Elston A. Boldt, 90, of Tripoli, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Tripoli Nursing & Rehab.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Tripoli. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26th at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made in his name to Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli, Tripoli Nursing & Rehab, or Cedar Valley Hospice in Waverly.
Elston Adolf, son of Adolf and Adelgunde Hesse Boldt, was born July 16, 1924, in Dayton Township of rural Bremer County, Iowa. He was baptized July 31, 1924 and confirmed April 10, 1938, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Readlyn. He received his education in the parochial school there. On October 10, 1943, he was united in marriage with Gertrude Brase at St. John Lutheran Church-Western Douglas. The couple farmed for many years south and west of Tripoli prior to retiring in 1975, and moving into town. Elston entered Tripoli Nursing & Rehab in September of this past year. He remodeled several structures in the area, enjoyed woodworking, and loved to read.
In addition to his wife, Gertrude of Tripoli, he is survived by three sons, Lonnie of Tripoli, Darwin (Estella) of Frederika, and Neal (Carol), also of Tripoli; three daughters, Judith (Floyd) Fowlkes of Tripoli, Joyce (Darwin) Fecht, and Jennifer (Ralph) McCready, all of Allison; twenty-nine grandchildren; fifty-six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Kemming of Waverly.
Elston was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Walter.
